1.Preheat oven to 180°C/160°C fan-forced. Oil 2.5 litre (10-cup) baking dish.
2.Boil, steam or microwave kumara 5 minutes. Drain; pat dry with absorbent paper. Place in single layer over base of dish; sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon of the cumin.
3.Meanwhile, cook bacon and onion over heat in medium frying pan about 5 minutes or until onion softens. Stir in remaining cumin, spread mixture over kumara.
4.Whisk eggs, cream and cheese in medium bowl; pour over kumara mixture. Bake, uncovered, in oven, 30 minutes.
