1.Preheat oven to moderate 180°C (160°C fan-forced). Grease deep 20cm-round cake pan; line base with baking paper.
2.Combine butter, extract, sugar, eggs, the water and sifted flour and cocoa powder in medium bowl, beat on low speed with electric mixer until ingredients are combined.
3.Increase speed to medium, beat about 4 minutes or until mixture is smooth and paler in colour. Pour mixture into pan.
4.Bake, uncovered, about 1 hour. Stand cake in pan 5 minutes before turning, top-side up, onto a wire rack to cool.
5.Spread cold cake with chocolate icing.
6.Using vegetable peeler, peel sides of both chocolates to create curls. Sprinkle cake with chocolate curls.

Top the cake with cachous or chocolate sprinkles instead of the curls, if you prefer.
