Animal cupcakes

1.Preheat oven to moderate. Line six holes of 12-hole (1⁄3 cup/80ml) muffin pan with cases.
2.Make cake according to directions on packet; pour mixture into each case. Bake, uncovered, in moderate oven about 20 minutes. Stand cakes in pan 5 minutes; turn onto wire rack to cool.
3.In a small bowl, beat butter with electric mixer until as pale as possible. Gradually beat in half of the sugar, milk, then remaining sugar.
4.Divide butter cream into six portions; tint one portion with just enough black to make grey for elephant; tint remaining five portions with remaining colours to the strength you prefer.
5.Spread green butter cream over top of one cake. Position marshmallow halves, cut-side up, on cake for eyes. Position brown M&M’s on eyes for pupils. Cut liquorice strap into thin strips position one strip on cake for mouth. Position red M&M on cake for tongue.
