Retro Recipes: Australian Women’s Weekly Big Book of Beautiful Biscuits

There's a reason why these biscuit recipes are classics!

Another #ThrowbackThursday, another trip into The Australian Women’s Weekly cookbook archives; this week, The Big Book of Beautiful Biscuits.

First published in 1982, this much-loved classic has been reprinted six times, proving once and for all that Australians cannot get enough of the Women’s Weekly’s biscuits and slices recipes!

We’ve rounded up some of our favourites and, to be honest, will probably be baking all of them this weekend…

Raspberry coconut slice

We can never turn down a slice and this raspberry coconut slice is our all-time go-to. Sweet and delicious, and with that gorgeous baked coconut topping, we still love this retro recipe.

Ginger coconut slice

Another slice, but this one is a little sweeter and a lot zestier. The combination of slightly spicy ginger and tangy lemon icing is a real winner in our eyes; try this ginger coconut slice for yourself.

Chocolate chip cookies

Can you talk about classic biscuits without including choc chip cookies? Didn’t think so. These ones are chewy and packed with chocolatey chunks; no-one will be able to resist.
